We are celebrating out 30th birthday this year and to mark the occassion, the RTE Nationwide team came to the Club to do a feature on us as part of a special episode about Waterford Airport. Thanks to everyone for coming out early and enjoying the beautiful weather! The episode will air on March 26th.

As the club prepares to celebrate it’s 30th birthday next year, we this week welcomed our 750th member, an impressive number by any standards. Although the current membership count is just above 100, the fact that the club has facilitated 750 people to attain and avail of their licences is a remarkable feat, given the not-for-profit ethos of the club, and the volunteer efforts which keep us all airborne.
Don't forget to read the May Newsletter!
It's been a whirlwind couple of months! The weather has been stunning over the last four weeks and everyone seemed to take advantage by getting out to the club early, having a quick breakfast and taking off to enjoy the beautiful blue sky. Our caption competition went down a treat and we had a seriously difficult time choosing the winner... Check out the winning entry and the details of our next competition!. On the documents page you will find newsletters for March and April. And, speaking of April, we have interviewed Louis Delahunty for our Member Spotlight this month.
Do not miss our Caption Competition! If you think you can crack a good joke, give us the wittiest caption for our photo and you could win 0.1 tach for an aircraft in the club as well as some ego and fame in the next newsletter. Take a look at our photo here!
Read our newsletter for February with all the humour and great photos you've come to expect from Dave Timpson! We're also delighted to celebrate two first solos this month: Colm Wheelan (a student of George Roche - see the photo on the left!) and Gerry O'Brien (a student of Brian Power) are our newest Captains - well done guys!
Read our interview with Calvin Bates who is under our member spotlight for February and is a fantastic example of a young and enthusiastic student pilot.

We have three updates to report today. We have Dick Cole to thank for his comprehensive and inspiring account of our club history. You can read it here: The Story of Waterford Aero Club. Don't miss the mini-gallery with photos both old and new documenting the beginning of the aero club up until recent years, even with a cremation thrown in!
Our December Spotlight is ready to read after finally convincing John Roche to fill out the interview answers... Thanks John!
Dave Timpson has published the December issue of the newsletter - a special Christmas edition with details of our turkey-less Christmas party and some great snowy weather pictures. Read it here.
Congratulations to Declan Mallon who flew his first solo flight in EI-WAT. The weather during the last week has been stunning and Declan took to the blue skies on his own for the first time yesterday. Happy landings!
Hot off the press, here is the October issue of the newsletter.
Plans are in action for the next Aero Club fly-out. On January 2nd 2011, we'll kick off the New Year with a trip to Haverfordwest in Wales. This will be a great opportunity in particular for newer fliers and students to see just how straightforward it is to make that hop across the Irish Sea. If we are thwarted by the Welsh weather, we will fly to Weston, and failing that, a weather contingency will be put in place for the following weekend. Fingers crossed for blue skies!
Make sure you book an aircraft early! Go to our online booking system now.

This summer, we had two fly-ins because the weather was so good. The first fly-in was a lunch-time affair with a full BBQ on offer. We were nearly weathered off but in the end had 10 visiting aircraft from around the country and across the Irish Sea.
On Sunday August 29th, although the weather elsewhere in the country prevented many pilots from visiting us, we welcomed aircraft from the United Kingdom, Birr, Weston, Galway, and Limerick. All our guests had a great time and seemed very impressed with the club and the airport. For members of the club itself, it marked the first time in quite a while that a breakfast was served up, and many members contributed by bringing along bread rolls, orange juice, rashers, sausages, cereals, eggs ands pizzas, and it is fair to say that a great morning and afternoon were had! A huge thank you goes out to all those who contributed in many different ways to the two fly-in events hosted by the club this summer. Hopefully the weather will be kinder to visiting pilots next year.
